Hey, I live in Dallas, TX. I was hit by an SUV today in my mustang. Totally his fault, he ran a red light. No injuries or anything. I've told my insurance company about it, and i'm filling out a police report. My question is, do I need to call HIS insurance company? Or is my company going to contact them and do it all for me? I just don't know how my car is getting fixed. Anyone know if they contact me and give me instructions or if I'm supposed to call them?
YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY WILL HANDLE EVERYTHING FOR YOU AND YOU WONT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING.

your insurance company will contact him. make sure they have all the information. Call your insurance company and ask them for further information. Usually the other insurance company will want to see the vehicle, and will instruct you to get some bids for repairs.

If you have full coverage I would let your insurance fight the battle with his.
Doing it yourself is frustrating and time consuming.

Whenever you get into an accident, have the police take you (everyone) to the hospital, To transfer info, and to see if anything is wrong injury wise, though you say nothing is wrong…Later on you could have something hurting…And you probably would not be ably to blame it on him.
That sucks man…

Hiya:
They will contact you but it may take longer than you want to wait.
I would recommend calling your insurance company. If you have collision coverage they can initiate the repairs to your vehicle and contact the other person's insurance company to get the ball rolling with them.
If you don't have collision coverage you can ask your company to assist but………depending on your insurance company – you might be asking for a lot.
You can always wait for the other insurance company to call you, too, but like I said….it might take them a while.
Why?
Their insured might not report the claim….their insured might not have all of your information and they will have to order the police report to get it…..
If you have THEIR information….it might pay to go ahead and give them a call now as well.
Glad no one was hurt. Goodluck.

DO NOT TALK TO ANYONE UNTILL YOU TALK TO AN ATTURNEY. IT'S FREE AND IT COULD SAVE YOUR A@#!!! I was in an accident 2 years ago with my Z06 and she ran the red light and was ticketed for it. I am still fighting this darn thing. They aren't paying for my medical bills and it cost me 19,800 to get my car fixed. Not to mention it took 1 year to fix it at a GM dealer and then i couldn't get it back untill i payed for it. Keep in mind the insurance company said they would pay for it but changed there minds because it wasn't in writing. Nor your insurance company or ther's will be willing to help you. All they want is statments right away and if you say you were going 1 mph over they will minipulate it into being your fault. don't make the same mistakes i did. Please just go get lawyer consultation. it's free and worth alot more. Your insurance company will take care of you but little out of there pocket as well . They could say you were at fault and jack your rates. They could also take care of it and you have no problems but remember if there is a deductable it is the other persons responsability.

If you have collision coverage, your insurance company will repair your vehicle and then subrogate (collect the money back) from the other insurance company.
However, if your carrier is not repairing your vehicle, then you need to call the other company directly and make the claim with them.
