Say I moved from a small city to Dallas(where car insurance is more expensive) but never changed insurance over, would I be covered if I got into an accident? Is there any way they would find out?

you would probably be covered, if your carrier offers ins. where you moved to. I would tell them immediately that you moved though. They could cancel your policy if you don’t.

If they check your driving record for tickets or accidents where the other driver is at fault, your new address will come up. There is probably some provision in your policy requiring you to notify the company of any significant changes.

The simple answer is no. If you are just visiting, it would cover you. But if you moved, the coverage is not there.
All insurance rates are calculated on your driving record and where you live. The rates would be much higher in New York City, NY than if Endicott, NY because of the higher rate of accidents.

Rate Evasion can be considered fraud and if you had a claim the insurance companies Special Investigation unit may get involved. If they found out you were purposely trying to avoid premium increases, then that would be grounds to not afford coverage for that loss. Then the policy would most likely be canceled. If you are at fault then you would be liable directly for other persons’ property damage. That can ruin your financial future.

Well, they’ll find out when you have an accident.
Most likely, you would still be covered. The problem is, those bills don’t get forwarded, so eventually, your policy will cancel for nonpayment, and then you won’t be covered.

You have about 30 days to tell them you moved. After that you are not covered. If you got into an accident, you would have to tell them where the accident happened and where the car is, they would find out.

You can contact your insurance company and ask, or maybe ask some dallas car accident lawyers as well. Obviously, the insurance company is likely to say no, but I’m sure lawyers deal with these kind of accidents all the time. They might have the proper answer you are looking for.
