If the other vehicle had insurance, theirs will cover their damage. Then, if it was your friends fault, the insurance company will go after him/her for reimbursement. The thing is, the owner, who is out of town, can say NO ONE had permission to drive it, but that would bring additional legal problems for your friend. (Criminal charges) If the car was insured, that insurance will cover that property. Your friend is screwed, and the laws vary in each state, but it doesnt look good for your friend/ Good luck.

Your friend is about to be sued for everything he now owns and everything he may own in the future. He is not now in the USA?. He better stay out then because if/when he comes back, he will be sorry
To live in America, follow the rules or don’t come here

Who ever is at fault in the accident pays for the damages. The claim will be for the amount of loss, which would be the repair costs unless the vehicle is a total, then the fair market value of the vehicle.
Said friend should be getting a ticket for driving without a license. Insurance goes with vehicles, not with drivers. Was the driver using the vehicle with permission of the owner?
A bit more information would be helpful to get a definite answer.

who hit what? who is at fault? any tickets? driver who is at fault should pay for all, but if no insurance, then insured driver claims for damage on his own and then company goes to other driver with bill. whoever has control and custody of the vehivle while he is away needs to make the report to the claims office. uninsured car is not covered because of driver at fault.

the claim is going to go through the persons insurance of who owned the car. so your friend with no insurance it is going to go on the other friends insurance, the one who has the car. but they may deny coverage because ur friend has no license. the other person i hope has uninsured/underinsured coverage. they can now come after your friend with no license. they can recover money from taking away your friend’s assets and taking out part of your friends wages for how ever long needed to recover the money.

Your friend is going to pay the damages plus fines, court costs and probably defend himself in a lawsuit. If he elects not to pay the fines, he will go to jail.r

Sounds like a sticky situation. They should think about hiring one of the dallas car accident lawyers the area has to offer. I hope he is able to find a fair resolution.
