The day my world fell apart. April 19th, 2010. It was a gorgeous day. A birthday not a dying day. But fate didnt take that statement to heart. I was standing outside with my best friends calyssa and dephanie when my cell phone rang. Still laughing about calyssas dead on impression of our english teacher i said “hello?” never expecting the voice ont he other end would cruch my heart, Marilyn? This is Mrs Veinta, Its andrew, theres been an accident and we dont know if hes going to make it. Were going to follow the helicopter to Dallas and if you want a ride get to the hospital NOW. I heard all of this threw half deaf ears. How could my andrew, the love of my life, the tallest, strongest guy in school who made my 6”0 self look petite, be lying in a hospital bed, the doctors not knowing if he was going to make it. I snapped back to reality when calyssa shook me and said mari are you ok?? All i could choke out was a whispered no.. Then my brain went into over drive call mom find a ride. great, the one day i didnt drive and i desperately needed a car. I just ran from caly and deph and went to the student parking lot hoiping someone would stop. Please! Somebody give me a ride! my boyfriend! please! finally a car stopped and i saw jake, a new guy in my math class. I breathed the situation out and hoped he understood my paniced speech. He just said get in. And we were off

I’ve been working on a story for a long time, and last night I gave a good friend of mine a small synopsis of it. His reply was simply that it’d be a good movie. So, judging by the synopsis, would this story be a better as a book or a screenplay?
The story takes place in Chicago, IL, present-day. Dets. Valerie Dane and James Macall are given the case of Summer Aiken, a 17-year-old mom to an 8-month-old daughter, Sydney. Summer was found in an alley, apparently gang-raped and beaten to near death. While gathering information involving the case, Summer confides in the detectives that she knows that she doesn’t have much time left and that the treatments that they’re trying aren’t working. All she wants is to see her daughter. When they go to Summer’s apartment to get Sydney from the babysitter, the babysitter is gone and so is Sydney. The case goes from rape and assault to kidnapping. When they go to Leah Aiken’s (Summer’s mother) home it is discovered the entire story of how her family fell apart. Leah says that she would do anything to make Sydney’s life better. This, therefore, makes her a suspect.
Next, they approach Sydney’s father, Ashton Berkeley, who is 18. He tells them that he wanted to be with Sydney, but his parents banned him from having any contact with Summer or his daughter. He wanted to take Sydney away from Summer because he heard about her being a prostitute and thought Summer was a bad parent. This also makes him a suspect in the kidnapping of Sydney.
The detectives eventually find Sydney in the basement of a brownstone after an anonymous tip heard Sydney screaming. The babysitter is found dead with Sydney. The basement belonged to Dallas Campbell, a governor and the man that raped Summer. He did this because he claims that Summer cheated him out of money because she wasn’t “good enough”. Unfortunately, while Dallas is on trial, Summer dies of severe blood loss from the internal bleeding and multiple staff infections from the cuts she got. But she did get to spend time with her daughter, in which time she learns the word “momma”.
After Summer’s passing, Ashton is awarded custody of Sydney and has his name put on Sydney’s birth certificate as her father.
During this whole story, Valerie and James confront their physical and emotional attraction. Although James loves Valerie and would do anything for her, he’s not ready to let go of his deceased wife, Rachel, who died in a car accident involving a drunk driver. In the end, James learns to let go and live with the fact that his wife passed away and that she would want him to be happy with someone.
The epilogue reveals that Valerie Dane was telling the story in present day to a group of new detectives as she’s retiring.
So, give me your opinion. Would you like this better as a book or a film?
On Thursday night, police in Dallas began a search for an illegal alien who crashed his SUV into a telephone pole and then fled the scene, leaving his three injured children behind, in two different locations.
According to police, a 9-year-old boy, 6-year-old boy, 5-year-old girl and 11-month-old baby boy, were in the Ford Expedition with their father when the accident occurred, just after 11:00 p.m.
The 9-year-old boy told police that his father had been drinking.
When the SUV spun out of control, hitting the pole, the force was so great that the 5-year-old girl was ejected through the rear window. Apparently, while she was in a child safety seat, she was not belted into the seat.
Neighbors, who ran outside after the crash, found the little girl covered in so much blood they something initially thought she was a dog who had been hit.
Witness Stephanie Clemons told DFW.com: “She was still just shaking and crying. When everybody asked her questions, she wouldn’t have nothing to say. She was just shaking and crying.”
The man immediately sped from the scene, leaving the injured little lying in the street. He then drove to a park and grabbed the 11-month-old and ran away on foot, leaving his two other children inside the vehicle.
The father ran to his mother-in-law’s house, handed her the baby and quickly fled the scene. At this time, he is still at-large.
The injured children were taken to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. The 5- and 6-year-olds were placed in the Intensive Care Unit, with head injuries. The 6-year-old underwent surgery and is in stable condition. The 5-year-old has suffered some brain swelling.
The 11-month-old and 9-year old were not seriously injured.
Olgalivia Salazar, the children’s aunt, told reporters: “I mean I know a lot of people hit dogs and just keep going. A lot of people who have a heart will stop and see if the dog’s okay. So I would think a dad would do the same thing, stop and say, hey where’s my kids. I don’t care what happens to me. I want to make sure my kids are okay.”
Though he is not in custody, Dallas police have charged the illegal alien with two counts of injury to a child and one count of child abandonment. Detectives are not releasing the suspect’s name at this time out of fear that he will flee the country. He has been previously deported to Mexico.
